The news that the State Railway in Holland is preparing to institute a number of passenger and goods motor services, commencing probably at the beginning of next year, should be of interest to English commercial motor manufacturers.
So far, most of the bus services in Holland have been run by private firms, and since 1924 there has been a good deal of development. There are some 1,500 to 2,000 buses in operation.
Holland is a good marketat present as it is a wealthy country, has practically no automobile industry of its own, and is near to England. Motors are chiefly imported from France, America, and England. France has an advantage at present owing to its inflated currency, but, on the other hand, people ca
the Continent are wary of buying goods from "inflation countries" as the quality is net always up to tandard.
To get a footing it is necessary to lay out a good deal of money, but, on the other hand, the prospects are very good. Not only is Holland developing its road transport system, but the Dutch colonies are also prospective markets and are best reached through Holland.
