I The M1 near Haigh, South Yorkshire, was closed for three 4urs last Thursday after a boxvan crossed the central Elservation and collided with an artic travelling in the oppoIto direction.
The north and southbound carriageways were closed fter the smash, which happened half a mile south of unction 38 at about 12:30hrs.
Police believe that the boxvan collided with a Renault 5 and a ord Escort before careering through the central reservation nd onto the northbound carriageway where it collided with he artic.
The boxvan driver a 39-year-old man from Chesterfield, as airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary where he was mated for serious head injuries, along with the driver of he artic .
