WINNER

This year's crop of entries produced some noteworthy category winners, from Clayton Commercials, Dennison Trailers, Stas, Transdek Sales and United Trailers.

Cartwright's Transdek City is a fine concept that is popular among Dperators who need to shift light bulk, such as foam sections. Its key feature, the loading platform, is a great way to load up safely while making full use of the entire body space and securing the cargo at the same time.

Clayton's novel curtain-sided, underfloor :anker is a classic example of improving fleet utilisation by design. It allows Suinness to haul the famous black stuff From its Dublin brewery to a bottling plant n Cheshire and then run back with packag.ng and raw materials.

Used in large numbers, there's real potenjai to reduce Guinness fleet numbers, thus -educing fuel usage and pollution.

Dennison's new smoothy is a top-class .xample of what is a relatively new tipping lesign from its Lancaster factory. It's a sturdy ooking fabrication with first-rate body weldng, good payload potential and a smart overill appearance.

The same could be said for United Trailers' ;uperbly finished winner of the Safety cate;ory. This disc-braked 36yd3 tipper is awash vith novel safety-related features, like extra ;ide marker and repeater lights, a tyre inflaion system and cab-controlled load netting.

For working safety it has a body stabiliser, lydraulic hose burst protection, a tapered and ined body for clean load discharge and an airissisted tailgate lock bar.

But the trailer that caught every judge's magination was the double-category winner

from Stas NV. Superbly built and quick and easy to operate, its entire side rises over and folds flat to the roof in less than a minute, for fork-lifting or craning in, heavy pallets or large packs. Once the cargo is secured using the inner lashing rings, the side locks into place by clever hydraulic mechanisms along the sides. Its moving-slat floor will handle most bulk commodities, from woodchip to sawdust.

Its easy and safe to operate, can carry a range of products and our judges though it a really worthy winner with great potential.
