The imposition of road tolls on major roads and in towns and cities is the only solution to easing the problem of road congestion, according to a study produced by government transport advisers.
The research being carried out in South and West Yorkshire is one of 22 studies nationwide.
Notes from a meeting between transport experts to discuss the study conclude that improving public transport will have absolutely no effect in reducing traffic jams— and there are reports that the Prime Minister's awn special adviser, Lord Mt, has reached the same conclusion.
