Peter and Shaun Trewartha, trading as P Trewartha & Son, based in Eggborough, Goole, appeared before North Eastern Deputy Traffic Commissioner Brian Homer at a Leeds disciplinary inquiry. They held a licence authorising eight vehides and two trailers, with five vehicles in possession.
Vehicle examiner Roger Page said that in the past five years 12 immediate and six delayed prohibitions had been issued to the firm's vehicles. One delayed and six immediate prohibitions, two of which were endorsed as showing a significant maintenance failure, had been issued since a previous public inquiry in January 1999, when one vehicle was suspended for a month.
Inspections were carried out every fortnight. Some of the prohibitions had been issued days after an inspection had taken place, and none of the defects listed had been noted.
Shaun Trewartha said that some of the prohibitii related to the one vehicle. had done a lot of work on it, it was worn out and had r been scrapped.
The age of the vehicles I caused a lot of problems, drivers had been failing report defects. As a resull this the firm had reduced operational fleet to the newest vehicles.

Horner cut the licence i directed that none of the vi des removed from the licei be specified on any other licence for six months. warned that the licence wc be revoked if there were further prohibitions.
