Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Hijackings in London appear to be on the increase again after a quiet period after Christmas. Two recent incidents in London left drivers unhurt but shaken.

A sixty-year-old driver working for Hythe-based Inter City Trucks was hijacked at gunpoint last Sunday (5 March) for his load of mail. Roy Adams, who was hauling for the international arm of the Royal Mail, was forced to pull over by a grey Maestro van in Snow Hill near Farringdon Street,

His assailant, a white man in his forties, then made Adams drive to an industrial estate near Kings Cross. On arrival, Adams was tied up in his cab while a gang of at least three men stole his load of mailbags.

And an owner-driver says his load of handbags was the target of would-be hijackers in Bethnal Green, London, on 22 February. Downham Market-based John Beckett was delivering a container on the Bethnal Green Road when he asked a smartly dressed and well-spoken man for directions to a loading bay.

The man led Beckett to believe that he worked for the company he was delivering to. The man directed him into a blocked side road and then left Beckett's cab.

The police were called. and Beckett says he was warned about the iron bar he carried in his cab as protection.
