OUR IRISH operators have wen warned that they will have to Flit their operating centres inside 3ublin Port.

A port company spokesman ays the companies, including BP VIcKeefrey, Seamus Treston and ames Lawlor, must move because kf a lack of space at the port.

Irish newspaper reports have uggested that the operators are unhappy with their eviction ,but the Dublin Port spokesman says the moves are part of a long-term plan: "All four of these companies lost their original yards when the port was subject to compulsory purchase orders for the sites in 2001.

-After that we told them they could have temporary homes until 2005, so they have known for some time they would have to move. That was intended to give them time to find a site outside the port area."

He adds that there is no reason why the firms should not continue their work at the port, which includes shuttling containers around the docks.

It is understood that the affected firms had attempted to buy a 2.5 acre site from another haulier, Woodside, but this deal fell through.
