• Allegations of running trucks on international operation when a company only held interim authority for national operation, and that vehicles were parked away from the nominated operating centre, have led to the adjournment of a licence bid by Mohammed Samyal, of Leicester.

Samyal, who is seeking a licence for four vehicles and one trailer based at Southampton Street, Leicester, had initially been called before Eastern Deputy Licensing , Authority Philip Brown following a series of convictions.

Seeking an adjournment, Kenneth McCole, for Samyal, said the letter from the Traffic Area, which raised the further issues affecting Samyal's repute, was received only the day before. Time was needed to make further enquiries so the full picture could be put before the DLA. In addition, Samyal was seeking character references. The two main references he wanted would be given by people who were currently abroad.

The DLA adjourned the hearing of Samyal's licence application until a date to be fixed.
