From our Parliamentary Correspondent TIA LKS aimed at cutting the road transport costs of exporters of heavy electrical plant are to be held between the industry and the Ministry of Transport.

This new development is the outcome of exchanges between Mr. Marples and Mr. Ellis Smith (Labour, Stoke South), who pointed out to the Minister the transport problems faced by these exporters in such centres as Manchester, Birmingham and Rugby.

In a letter to Mr. Smith, Mr. Marples had promised that he or one of his Parliamentary Secretaries will meet representatives of the British Electrical and Allied Manufacturers' Association, together with the M.P., to discuss any particular problems they might wish to raise.

"I know there are still problems," wrote Mr. Marples. "My people are pressing ahead to see what can be done to meet them."
