Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• An HGV driving test examiner has been fined

£300 with £55 costs after pleading guilty to two hours law offences.

Alan Stewart West, who works at the HGV test cen tre in WeecIon, Northants, appeared before Kettering magistrates on Monday (6

July) to answer two charges of failing to take sufficient daily rest.

It was alleged he broke the drivers' hours rules while moonlighting as a driver at the weekend. His licence was not endorsed.

One local driving instructor says: "On Monday he's up on tacho charges and on Tuesday he's sitting in judgement on my pupils.

I've no axe to grind against the bloke himself, but it's a bit rich."

The Driving Standards Agency will only confirm: "A Mr West is employed by the agency as an examiner."
