Same transmission?

Isee in the financial press that BTG is to float its vehicle transmission systems subsidiary, Torotrak, as a separate company on the stock market. This is to raise money to fund the continuing development of an Infinitely Variable Transmission (WT) system.

Is this the same transmission that Leyland experimented with in some of its National buses in the 1980s? I remember a very interesting article appearing in Commercial Motor at the time, along with a cutaway drawing of the transmission system.

I have often wondered why this failed to progress and would be very interested in an update on this design along with a reproduction of that cutaway drawing, if anyone can trace it.
