Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FOR the second time since its introduction in September 1973, production of the Ford ASeries integral van is to cease.

The van was originally produced at the Hamble factory of Strachans, but that company folded in early 1974 with a consequent gap in production until July 1975. On this date the Willenhall plant of Howard Tenens began to build the vehicles. Sales, however, have been disappointing and only 270 have been registered in the UK since production began again.

Ford blames the "false start" to the van's manufacture for its demise, maintaining that a continuous production run would have eliminated the dealer problems of cancelled orders following the Strachans problem.

It has been reported that Ford Motor Company is to pay about £1.5m to Howard Tenens in compensation for the capital investment made in equipping the Willenhall plant for A-Series van production. On Tuesday Ford would neither confirm nor deny that any compensation would be made.
