Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

While I was reading the programme for the 1976 Fleet Management Conference my attention was caught by the paper to be presented by Barrie Allbert of Dunlop. Why, I thought, should a tyre manufacturer show operators how to reduce tyre costs?

He says that there is a vast wastage of tyres through incorrect selection, mismatching and poor checks on inflation— no pun intended. I still can't understand why a tyre man should be concerned about such things; surely the more that is wasted the more they will sell. It can only be that Barrie Allbert and Dunlop are showing a commendable atitude towards waste at the risk of a possible drop in sales. I'm intrigued so much that I'm going along to FMC on September 30 to meet the man.
