THE German Federal Government's Bills for re-organizing road transport have had an easy passage through the Bundesrat, but when they go to the Bundestag, strong opposition to the clauses concerning the banning of heavy good vehicles from the roads is expected. It is provided, however, that the economic effects of banning certain classes of heavy traffic from the roads be reviewed after four years.
Final ratification of the Bills is unlikely before the end of this year.
