A PAY increase of 3 per cent just awarded to London Transport busmen should push average earnings for the drivers of one-man-operated double-deckers to over £80 per week.

The new basic rates will be £56.75 for drivers of o-m-o buses, £49.15 for drivers of crewed buses, and £47.85 for bus conductors. This increase, added to earlier index-linked Payments in July and October 1975 will give a total pay rise of 13i per cent since last April. The present agreement allows pay rises of threequarters of a per cent for every 1 per cent rise in the retail price index.
