A FURTHER 36 Leyland Comet PA passenger chassis are to supplement the existing fleet of 100 similar vehicles operated by the Ceylon Transport Board. The contract is worth £70,000 and brings to £900,000 the total value of orders placed with the company by the Board
in the past 15 months. •
The Comets are powered by Leyland 0.350 vertical oil engines. They have an unladen weight of 5 tons 11 cwt. and are designed to carry 63 passengers. On the inter-city runs for which they are used, the vehicles are frequently. overloaded. They are, however, returning a fuelconsumption figure of 11.68 m.p.g.
