REVENUE from duties on hydrocarbon oils in the year ended March 31, 1958, dropped by £16m. from the previous year's figure to £322m. Consumption of petrol was 31-. per .cent, less than in 1955-56 because of rationing. but more derv. was used.
..Purchase tax on vehicles yielded £134m.. a rise of £20m. These figures are given in the Customs and Excise Commissioners' annual report (Stationery Office, 9s. 6d.),
