Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BRIDG END HAULIER John Raymond Transport has had its licence authorisation cut by almost 25% following a South Wales disciplinary inquiry.

The firm appeared before Welsh TC David Dixon following a number of maintenance problems and breaches of the drivers hours and tachograph rules.

Vehicle examiner Bob Hill told the TC that 60 prohibition notices mostly for single. minor items had been imposed on the company's vehicles and trailers over the past five years During an unannounced maintenance investigation last July Hill examined 40 trucks, issuing two delayed prohibitions and 20defect notices. Although there were minor shortcomings in the maintenance records, he told the TC that the initial pass rate at annual test was above the national average. Traffic examiner Michael Isaacs said he had checked a random sample of the company's tachograph charts He found no serious breaches but there were a number of single offences and five drivers had each committed 10 offences. Though these were not serious, tired drivers could cause accidents with a single offence, he added.

Cutting the licence from 185 trucks and 5(X) trailers to 140 trucks and 420 trailers, theTC coneluded that the maintenance report had been unsatisfactory, and with a total of 60 prohibitions he felt it necessary to impose some restriction on the licence.
