• The first of two major truck theft trials in North-East England has opened at Grimsby Crown Court.
Four men have been charged with conspiracy to handle stolen HG Vs. trailers and their loads, in the first of two cases which are being brought by the Scunthorpe police.
Harry Smith of New Street, Darfield; Lawrence Ward of Grove Lane, Hemsworth; Glyn Heseltine of Carlton Road, Barnsley; and Andrew John Lister of Briar Lane, Havercrof-t have all pleaded not guilty.
The trial is expect to last at least a week.
Now Scunthorpe police are hoping to be granted an April date for another trial which involves the alleged theft of commercial vehicles.
