AN ESTIMATED 7500 lorr drivers have now been laid cr as a direct result of the stet strike, according to the Roa Haulage Association whic expects the figure t accelerate.
The RHA has asked the Di partment of Transport to ests blish an emergency systei under which the excise dui discs of vehicles out of 115 could be deposited at loc; licensing offices.
When the strike is settle. discs could be returned.
The DTp has not, as ye agreed to the proposal.
