• To ease pressure on accommodation at its Brentford premises and at the truck centre at Boreham Wood, Herts, Mercedes-Benz (GB) Ltd is planning to establish a separate division, with headquarters for Mr Peter Yates, deputy managing director, and his office staff, at Ampthill, Beds.
A company spokesman told CM that for some time a search had been under way for a location that would allow reasonably easy contact not only with Brentford and Boreham Wood but also with the £850,030 commercial vehicle preparation centre which is being set up near Wakefield, Yorks. The new town of Milton Keynes, Beds, was first considered but Ampthill, which lies between M1 (.5 miles) and Al (12 miles) was deemed More suitable.
