Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Opened by Mr Gordon L. Lowery, general manager of the Port of Bristol, last month, the new headquarters of Western Transport Ltd at Severnside Trading Estate, Bristol (CM January 26) occupy 64acres of land adjacent to M4 and M6.

Western Transport is a subsidiary of the Transport Development Group and operates over 100 vehicles from four depots — the new Avonmouth hq; Brentford, Middlesex; Berkeley, Glos; and Warrington. The fleet mainly consists of 32-ton artics and nightly trunk services are operated between the depots.

In addition to the general haulage fleet, which has a carrying capacity of 1400 tons, specialist vehicles are provided on long-term contracts to a number of companies, chief of which are Boots the Chemists.

A large part of the warehouse at the Avonmouth site has been custom-built for the 24-hours distribution operation for Boots.

The design of the new hq provides for future expansion and particular attention has been paid to the inclusion in the 11,000 sq ft workshop of the latest servicing equipment.

The company employs 18S drivers, fitters and labourers and 51 office staff. It is the largest TDG haulage company in the West of England.
