Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

At the foot of the letter "24-hour breakdown services" from Mr. K. W. Hutchingson. you invited replies from the garage trader.

I quote the following facts although we are too distant to have helped that particular case:—

We operate a 24-hour breakdown and tow in service. At the Leicester works the night staff numbers 10 fitters. The average number of calls per month is well up in three figures.

Provided credit arrangements are reasonable, no one is ever turned away. and at makes are served. Also a list of towing charges is available, so that the customer can calculate the charge in advance.

I would say, in defence of the garage trader, that it is difficult to keep a breakdown service out of the red, even with a large volume of business. The capital cost of equipment is high and its level of employment low. T. G. SLATER. Director, Ford and Slater Ltd., Leicester.
