• The grant of a B licence to a Southsea, Hants, boatbuilder on terms agreed between him and a number of hauliers who opposed his original application, was made by the South Eastern LA at Southampton on Tuesday.

The boatbuilder, Mr. Kenneth Brown, of Highland Road, Southsea, had applied for a B licence to operate two vehicles with trailers to haul boats within 75 miles of his operating centre.

British Road Services and Pickfords Ltd., and several Hampshire hauliers opposed the application.

After discussion, the objectors agreed to accept the grant of a licence for one LandRover vehicle with a 16cwt trailer limited to the haulage of boats to and from the licensee's own yard within 5 miles. The LA, Maj.-Gen. A. F. J. Elmslie, agreed to grant Mr. Brown a licence on those terms.
