Thank goodness, is someone listening to us at last? I refer to the News Analysis (CM 18-24 November) on Michael Betts, the Scottish Traffic Commissioner.

Companies have been getting away with treating its drivers like a disposable commodity for too long, There are far too many pressures on drivers to keep up with impossible schedules. They are a danger on the road when all their concentration goes out of the window and all they have in their head is: "If I don't get there, I will be out of a job."

We have all given in to pressure, we try our best to keep the boss sweet, while he is bellowing down the phone at us. We give it our best shot but it is never enough.

I have got out of the rat race, I only work for people who appreciate me. My owner drivers are lovely. They treat me right and my customers are my friends..

Thank you, Mr Betts, help the drivers to regain their selfrespect by making the bosses toe the line.

Can we have some more like you down in England?

Ilona Richards Burton on Trent.
