• Up to 30 staff are to be made redundant by Taylor Barnard at the end of this month as it cuts costs by closing a Bedfordshire site and shifts the business to a Midlands centre.
The closure of the company's Sandy depot follows a general move to concentrate activity into larger units, says managing director Peter Carter. All of the site's clients will move to an existing facility at Wellingborough.
Early next year the distribution specialist's Moseley, West Midlands site is to close with the business transferring to an existing depot at Bryn near Wigan, Lancs.
Taylor Barnard says the lease at Moseley has finished and staff are being "offered the chance to transfer" to Bryn.
The future of the company's Warrington site is in question following the loss of Golden Wonder work.
The company says no decision has been made on the Warrington depot's future and it will be working hard to attract more business to fill the gap.
From January, Golden Wonder will be handling its own warehousing and distribution at Widnes although it has increased its throughput with Taylor Barnard's Avonmouth centre.
The company denies a mass rationalisation of infrastructure and staff. It says that by spring it will have increased its total warehouse capacity by 18,600m2 in the previous 18 months.
