Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN view of the large amount of criticism of the Salter Report, it is interesting to learn that a reply is being prepared, and we understand that this will he made personally by the chairman, Sir Arthur Salter, K.C.B.

ONE of the most successful materials which is being used for the pistons of oil and petrol engines is Hiduminium in its Y. and R.R. alloys. An advantage is that it is found unnecessary to use bushes, as the materials work well against hardened-steel gudgeon pins.

VISITORS to Newcastle remark favourably upon the bus station situated in the centre of the town. This has involved no heavy capital outlay, the structure comprising a simple roof of glass and corrugated iron, yet passengers are able to find their vehicles quickly, because separate platforms are used for the individual routes, which are properly indicated. INTRODUCED at the Commercial Motor Show of 1931, the Nobel Dulux coach finishes have made great headway. They are produced synthetically, are applied by brush or sprayed, and retain their gloss and colour in a remarkable manner. A Dulux finish is employed on the demonstration bus of the Comfort-Travel Patents Co., described in our issue for last week.

THE excellent and thorough work of combating • any legislation or restriction which adversely affects operators of commercial vehicles is being actively pursued by the Commercial Motor Users Association. It was the C.M.U.A. that called the meeting of trade representatives which resulted in the now famous "Case of Trade and Industry" against the Salter Report. Since then it has proved successful in its plea against the use of side guards on goods vehicles. Mr. F. G. Bristow, C.B.E., F.C.I.S., M.Inst.T., is now looking for more fields to conquer.
