Brief Details of Some of the Outstanding Advertising Vehicles to be Seen in Daily Use on the Streets of the French Capital.

THE . MOTOR vehicles to be seen in Paris which are used chiefly for their publicity value can hardly be said to he up to the standard Which one migiut expect, especially in view of the undoubted supremacy•of French artists in sculpture and the plastic arts. In design and execution the vehicles can only be described as mediocre, although there are one or two bright exceptions which are out of the rut of the commonplace.

One of the best advertising vehicles to be seen in the French capital is the little Peugeot, which advertises the famous Moulin Rouge. The body of the car, which is a very comfortable interiordrive two-seater, is built in the form of a windmill and painted bright red, with a white roof. The whale appearance of the car is most attractive, far more so than would appear to be the case from the illustration which we publish.

Another very conspicuous vehicle is that used by the hat company of Berteils. In this ease the back portion of the car is built in the form of a huge hat-box, painted a dark claret colour, in Striking contrast to the rest of the vehicle, which is finished in black.

Plaster animals of over life-size are mounted on the delivery vans of the suppliers of a well-known brand .of milk chocolate and the Lion Noir Polish Co. The Electro Lux Vacuum Cleaner Co. run a fleet of Citroen cars, each of which is fitted with a body made in the shape of one of their cleaning appliances. An original note is struck by the manufacturers of the Jaeger speedometer. The body of their service vehicle takes the form of an enormous speedometer with dials on each side about 5 ft. in diameter. As the hands on these dials are actually made 'to

register, one can see at a glance the speed at which the car is travelling. An enthusiastic r_mtorist• who has teen this vehicle suggests that it might prove to be a very useful outfit with which to run down the Portsmouth road on a Sunday morning A couple of original but somewhat ungainly velr;cles are used by the Compagnie Coloniale: a company who supply tea and chocolate. These are en closed-drive, air-propelled Leyat light car chassis.

The remaining publicity vehicles in use in Paris—although they are legion— are so ordinary in their conception that they do not merit a reference. There is not the slightest doubt that London is far ahead of the French capital in the matter of publicity vehicles, a fact of which British coachbuilders, in particular, should be justifiably proud.
