Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANOTHER COUNCIL has put in place plans to launch a lorry watch scheme in order to stop LGVs from using roads in its borough.

According to local reports, councillor Dale Heenan at Swindon Borough Council is appealing for volunteers in Covingham to gather evidence of the speed, number and direction of LGVs travelling through the Wiltshire village.

The evidence will be used to bring in a 7.5-tonne weight limit, preventing drivers using the village as a shortcut. The council is using new powers handed to local authorities enabling them to decide the classiication of roads in order to divert and ease trafic. The plans follow similar schemes restricting CVs from using some roads in Bradford-on-Avon, Holyport near Windsor and Nottinghamshire.

Pete Butler, employment service manager at the Road Haulage Association, says: “How many people know what the weight limit for a tri-axle unit with a single axle trailer is?” Councillor Heenan was unavailable for comment.
