DATA COLLECTED BY two hauliers that ran digital and analogue tachographs simultaneously for a month is being analysed by Vosa to see whether the two devices record time differently, as many operators have alleged.

In May, Vosa and the Road Haulage Association (RHA) launched a trial with AJA Smith Transport of Clit he roe, Lanes and Ray Stewart Haulage of Warrington. Cheshire to investigate claims that cligitachs overrecord hours by rounding up to the nearest minute (CM 31 May). Jack Semple, director of policy at the RHA. says Vosa is currently looking at a month's figures collected by the two hauliers.

"We've asked the hauliers not to collect any more data for us while this data is analysed, but to keep both types of tacho in the vehicles in case we want them to do a further trial period." he adds.

While he was unable to give any conclusions from the data that has been collected. Semple says it is "interesting and useful" and promises the results will be made available as soon as possible.
