1111 The EEC Commission is investigating allegations that the British Government discriminates against drivers from other member states who commit road traffic offences.
German Euro-MP Horst Seefeld asked for Commission intervention following a letter of protest he received from the International Association for Humanitarian Aid in the Road Transport Sector (IAGHS).
According to this communication, in the UK "heavy fines or custodial sentences are being imposed on foreign lorry drivers brought before magistrates' courts for relatively minor offences, such as overloading", says Seefeld.
