FRED MULLEY is constantly urging the French and West German governments to adopt more liberal policies towards British hauliers, he told the Commons last week.
West Germany had 0 ,-recently increased road-rail
permits from 1,100 to 2,000, he said, and at meetings in the autumn his officials would continue to press for sub stantial improvements in bilateral quotas.
Dealing with the Common Market as a whole, Mr Mulley said that the size and allocation of the quota of road haulage permits for 1975 and 1976 were still being considered. For the remainder of this year the figure for Britain had been increased from 129 to 227.
