Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

UNDER NEW EU proposals, tyre manufacturers will have to label their products with information on fuel efficiency, safety and noise performance. The European Parliament's Industry Committee backed the recommendation last week.

A report by MEP Ivo Beiet says suppliers must show fuel efficiency, wet grip and external rolling noise basses in technical literature for Cl, C2 and C3 tyres fitted to cars and light and heavy commercial vehicles.

Distributors must also include this information in their literature and the label will have to be attached as a sticker to Cl and C2 tyres.

The Industry Committee wants the European Commission to create, by 2010, an EU tyre labelling website to explain each component of the label. Suppliers will have to show a fuel savings calculator on their websites so buyers can assess the potential savings of different tyres.
