VISUAL CONTROL has recently added two new Roil-a-Chart magnetic "planning boards", both of them being designed specifically for use with vehicles and servicing. All Roll-a-Chart boards are to a similar design with a fixed panel on the left, the main panel set back a little from the front edge and a transparent rotating sleeve carried

between rollers at each end passing in front of it.

Differences between the various models are primarily in their size, the amount of forward planning that can' be carried on the model depending on the width dimension. Sizes go from 2ft 2in. for three months to Sft 4in. for 12 months and there is a narrower 12-month model where the transparent sleeve doubles back on itself behind the front panel and has an extra pair of rollers. In all cases alternative heights are produced allowing for either 100 items to be indexed or 150.

In the case of one of the new models that intended for servicing control—there is an additional fixed panel on the right-hand side where markers for personnel in six different sections with 25 men in each can be stored. The moving sleeve accommodates seven days each divided up into eight hours per day plus one hour's overtime and the space covering one hour is further divided into J hour divisions. The system intended for this board is that the personnel are shown on the fixed left-hand panel with jobs that they work on entered in the relevant line by using markers taken from the storage space on the right. The job details are entered alongside using either a marking pencil (marks can be simply wiped off the board with a soft cloth) or by attaching strips of magnetic material on which the job number can be written.

A variety of accessories is available from Visual Control including ceramic and /or flexible-strip permanent magnets in assorted colours and shapes, a self-adhesive dateline and a "today" line for positioning between forward planning area and the overdue section.

The second new model is designed for general maintenance control in the fleet and this programmes visually all stages of the vehicle's servicing on a time or mileage basis for up to six months ahead on the moving sleeve. This shows what is to be done currently and what is to be done in the months ahead as well as what is overdue.
