Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Remington House, 65 Holborn Viaduct, London EC1.

VISIBLE recording systems applicable to vehicle preventive maintenance have been a Remington Rand speciality for many years. There is the well-known Cardex system and this is complemented by the Shed-U-Graph which is based on a similar principle but providing for information to be more readily visible on a wall panel, and the Graphdex which is a simple wall-chart system providing coded information at a glance.

Cardex cards are made in sizes from Bin. by 4in. to 13in. by 9in. and standard capacities of cabinets supplied range from 252 to 1260 cards. The cards can be printed to the user's requirements and these are contained in a series of hinged "pocket leaves" carried in a shallow "drawer". When folded flat the "leaves" lie one on top of the other leaving the end kin, or so exposed. This edge has a folded-over clear plastics strip into which the card fits so that this portion of the card is visible when the drawer is pulled out.

The body of the card is used for records with basic information on the visible portion and this part can also be printed with dates and coloured signals to indicate timings for particular tasks.

The Shed-U-Graph is ,a wall chart consisting of a sturdy framework nearly 44in in width and supplied in three depths into which pockets similar in design to Cardex pockets are fitted but either 40in. or 18in. in width. Like Cardex, the pocket leaves overlap one another leaving the bottom fin, or so visible and this hasa translucent turn-up edge. The pockets enable a visual chart to be combined with a housing for documents such

as record cards which give details of the facts illustrated on the visible edge of the pocket. Each pocket can be fitted with a time or date scale and both coloured cards or other signalling method can be used to show information visually in the form of bar charts and so on.

The Remington Rand Graphdex wall chart is built up from slotted white enamelled steel panels measuring 15in. by 30in. They can be used singly or in multiples to produce a chart of any size. Coloured-plastics tabs are fitted to the slots in the panels which are in both horizontal and vertical lines. There are nine colours and 27 colour Patterns for these and in addition there are title panels, title tubes for written or typed slips, numerals, letters and self-adhesive strips for making lines.
