• A new series of van bodies under the name Freight Box has been announced by Coachwork Conversions Ltd, Windsor Street, Colne, Lancs. They are for nominal payloads of 2 to 7.5 tons and are designed to fit Bedford, Commer, Ford and Leyland chassis of approximately 10ft, lift and 13ft wheelbase. Cubic capacities are in cu ft) 585, 670, 675, 700, 775, 780 and 900. The bodies are in alloy, and have interlocked alloy plank flooring which will take loadings of up to 423Ib/sq ft. A typical 585 cu ft Freight Box on a Ford D400 brings the total unladen weight to less than 2 tons I7cwt.

Insulation, refrigeration and temperaturecontrol packages are available with the Freight Box range.

To cope with orders for the new bodies, the company has bought a 1-acre extension site in Colne, and it is also setting up regional repair and sales depots in Glasgow, Newcastle, Hull and Bristol.
