Stockport, to add six vehicles to an existing B licence for one vehicle, was granted on Tuesday by the North Western deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. A. H. Jolliffe, subject to the deletion of solid fuels from the conditions applied for and the surrender of five existing Contract A licences.

Mr. S. Moss, for Clayton, said the vehicles working from the Brick Marketing Co. (Doncaster) Ltd. were sometimes idle for considerable periods when production difficulties arose. On the B licence, conditions were that the vehicles could work for other customers when this occurred: An additional vehicle of 44 tons unladen weight—to • be acquired— was justified, said Mr. Moss, as there was evidence that one customer's output was going up tenfold.

Mr. E. T. Baker, transport manager of the Brick Marketing Co. (Doncaster) Ltd., said he was convinced that Clayton's service under B-licensed conditions would be as satisfactory as it had been on Contract A work.
