SIMARCO WANTS to base 10 vehicles and the same number of trailers at a new operating centre in Centre 38, Barton under Needwood, Burton-On-Trent. The new multi-million-pound West Midlands hub will offer storage for food, pharmaceutical and retail clients.

According to Simarco, the facility will give it better access to Palletforce’s lagship Burton-On-Trent facility, with the haulier handling about 250 pallets a night for the pallet network, and volumes expected to increase.

It will be Simarco’s ifth UK site, adding to facilities in Witham, Liverpool, Manchester and Wellingborough.

The investment comes after the irm made a pretax proit of £800,000 on sales of £22m in the year to 31 March.

Simon Reed, MD at Simarco, says: “So much of our work is European, and those European customers expect us to have a West Midlands presence.”
