Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Mr X relishes the passion that makes our industry unique and suggests it should be harnessed in the interests of us all.

Passion! ll's what makes the world go round: passion in love, spoil, art, and yes, even business. Take the act of eating a meal prepared by someone blessed with a passion for cooking. It can turn that experience from the mundane to the sublime. Some have it; most do not. So imagine my surprse when I discovered Passion with a capital P in the most unlikely place last weekend. It was in afield (no, not that sort of passion!) near Paddock Wood, in the heart of rural Kent. My company, together with many other locally based trucking firms, removals firms, recovery operators, owner-drivers, even main dealers, had come to support the inaugural South-East Truck Festival.

While the festival itself suffered from poor pre-event publicity and somewhat amateur organisation, it made up for it with a vibrant display of pure passion for our chosen industry. To see rows of gleaming trucks of all types and sizes being critically admired and tended by their drivers, many with their families, was a truly gratifying experience. Curiously, the lack of hype around the place actually helped the process of integration between fellow entrants.

Much time was spent just wandering from truck to truck, chewing the cud and enjoying the sun. Passionate discussions of days gone by, passionate discussions about the state of the industry, passionate discussions about new technology versus old; it was all there for those who wanted to listen and join in. Drivers and operators of all ages indulging in their chosen passion: remarkable.

Perhaps it is this passion that makes our industry unique.

We are very lucky to be able to tap into that hidden resource called passion. Without it, our industry, as we know it, would be dead within a decade or less.

"We are very lucky to be able to tap into that hidden resource called passion. Without it our industry would be dead"

Now all we need to do is harness that passion and use it to fight for a fair deal for our industry.
