needed an impressive 'iagship when choosing a new tractor. With the arrival of a Oaf XF95 it believes it's found the perfect answer. This particular example is a 6x2 mid-lift axle, FTC tractor powered by the 430hp variant of Daf's 12.6-litre XEC engine. Star has also opted for the automated 12-speed AS Tronic gearbox, which it believes will contribute to reduced clutch wear and safer driving.
When deciding which tractor to buy there were several considerations to satisfy. Managing director Neville Mariott says: "It looks good, presents a very professional image and is performing well. It's a bit early to talk about fuel, but I'll be looking for around 8.5mpg and am confident the Daf will deliver that once the engine has bedded down a bit more."
Paul Cockrell will be at the wheel of the new Dal, in which he expects to cover 100,000 miles a year. Having already spent iwo to three nights in the Super Space cab he describes the environment as "fantastic".
