ONE AREA WHERE Foden gained a deserved reputation for quality was the tipper market. It was for this reason that O'Connor Utilities in Manchester went for three Foden Alpha eight-wheel "tipper-grabs" to add to its 150-strong fleet all came specified with AS-Ironic automated transmission.
Tom O'Connor, managing director for the company, says: "The Foden is a good strong truck, ideally suited to our intensive local work programme. We have now switched over to Foden for all our eight-wheel trucks due to their proven performance and reliability under arduous working conditions."
These particular models come with Epsilon tipper-grabs and Abba tipping bodies with Harsh underfloor tipping gear. Power comes from Cummins ISMe diesels rated at 420hp. They will be working out of the company's depots in Manchester and Borehamwood, handling utilities work.
