Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Ann McQuaid (transport manager) FLEET SIZE: Three (two tractors; one rigid) CONTRACT: Coal The McQuaid family of Boyle have had a long assocation with haulage. The late Sean J McQuaid was an IRHA founder member and president. His daughter Ann, who runs the Ann McQuaid Transport business, was nominated for the IRHA's management council in 2003.

She began in haulage in 1993 and operates a three-truck fleet with herself as one of the drivers. Asked if her two male drivers find it strange to be working for a female boss who is also a driver she laughs: "We are all very happy."

The fleet includes two tractor units: a Scania 164, and a 480 MAN TGA as well as a rigid Scania 93M. The rigid works from Modular Cold Store in Mohill moving insulation panels for cold stores.

The tractor units haul coal, containers, steel and insulation panels.

"We deliver all over Ireland and we keep in touch with customers every couple of days," says McQuaid. Coal is delivered to wholesalers for Arigna Fuels and backloads are slack for the manufacture of smokeless fuel by Arigna.

The Scanias are serviced by Scania; the MAN by nearby O'Reilly Commercials, and a mechanic comes in la the yard every so often to handle other maintenance tasks.

For the future, McQuaid says she is quite happy with the business as it is and will continue to maintain good service with the personal touch,

All three of the company's drivers will soon be taking part in an on-site training and safety course which is being organised by Foynes Port for drivers using the port.

Ann McQuaid Transport sponsors the Cloone agricultural show every August and the O'Carolan festival in Keadue.
