• A consortium of ear manufacturers and importers have shortlisted four hauliers for a distribution contract worth up to .£10m a year.
Swift. TNT and a joint bid from NFC subsidiaries Exel Logistics Automotive and Lynx have been selected. Bids for the overnight distribution of aftermarket parts were rejected from Hammond Transport Group, Ryder and Tibbett & Britten.
The consortium—Daihatsu! Chrysler Jeep, Honda, Mazda, Nissan GB, Toyota GB and Volvo—should decide by November whether to replace the existing haulage arrangements. It is considering granting a single operator a three-year contract.
