Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Land Rover's long awaited new turbo-diesel engine made its first public appearance in the car hall of the Paris Motor Show. The engine was installed in the new Discovery and a special 50th anniversary Defender 90 limited edition for the French market

Previously code-named "Storm", the Td5 is a 2.5-litre five-cylinder direct-injection engine which was conceived prior to BMW's acquisition of the Rover Group. Featuring a new Lucas Varity Electronic Unit injection system, the Td5 produces 122hp (91kW) at 4,200rpm with an impressive 300Nm (2211bft) of torque at 1,950rpm.

Land Rover says the new engine meets the emissions requirements of all its markets without the need for a catalytic converter, thanks in part to the injection system operating at 1,500 bar—around five times as high as its predectssor. A revised Defender range incorporating the Td5 should be available in the UK market sometime early next year.

0 Land Rover is believed to be close to launching a Freelanderbased van; a pickup version is also being considered.
