• A self-employed driver was fined £250 with £65 costs by West Bromwich magistrates for failing to take 11 hours daily rest in 24 hours.
Malcolm Seward, prosecuting for the Vehicle Inspectorate, said a check of the M6 lorry park at Perry Barr, Birmingham on 11 July revealed that Anthony Walker had only taken five hours' rest. Walker, of Croombs Road, East London, had the case proved in his absence.
,) A London transport firm was fined £450 with £54 costs by West Bromwich magistrates for failing to have an Operator's Licence for one of its vehicles. The case was proved in the firm's absence.
