Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A year after Leyland Daf set up its approved used vehicle programme the man in charge of the scheme says it has helped boost residual values on Leyland Daf used models by up to 30%. According to Ian Allison: "Our residuals have improved at a greater rate than our competitors."

Allison says that the price of a three-year-old Roadrunner has risen by 17%, but the greatest improvement has been seen in the heavy tractor market where used Leyland Daf prices are said to have gone up by as much as 30%.

But he adds: "There is still room to go on tractors. The 95 is not sitting where it should be on residuals, but it is working now — we're selling 95 above book now."

The number of participating dealers has grown from the original 12 to 20. Before the scheme LD's dealer network of 57 outlets sold 1,600 used models in 1988 when the market for used trucks was around 150,000 units. Allison expects LD's dealers to sell about 2,000 vehicles this year.
