• Robert Wright of Ballymena, Northern Ireland has become the second PSV bodybuilder within a week to launch a new mini-bus body range based on the Iveco Ford Daily chassis cowl. The latest Wright TX body is available on either the 3.6m or 3.95m wheelbase Daily 49.10, Turbo powered by the 2.5-litre turbocharged direct-injection Sofim diesel which develops an impressive 68kW (92hp), or on the 3.6m wheelbase 40.8 Daily chassis, fitted with the 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated diesel rated at 52kW (69hp).

Both versions will be offered in a variety of configurations from a TX202 welfare model capable of carrying six seated passengers and three wheelchairs, to a TX303 stage carriage version with 25 seats for one-person-operation. There is also luxury TX404 body with soft trim and coach seats.

Like its midi-length TT404 body, built on the 7.5-tonne Iveco Ford 79.14 chassis, the Daily mini body uses the modular Alusuisse alloy exterior panel system based on a conventional steel subframe.

Wrights fits its own front wings and windscreen on the Daily chassis cowl, but the original bonnet and grille are retained. All models come with a jacknife-style passenger entrance as standard.

The latest Wright TX mini body forms part of a growing modular range which extends from the Daily at 3.5-tonnes GVW, through the larger Dodge 50 Series up to the T1'404, on the 7.5-tonne 79.14. Delivery time for the Wright-bodied Daily is expected to be between three to four weeks. Prices for complete vehicles range from £26,000 to E30,000, depending on specifications.

Wrights have carried out a number of modifications to the front of its 17404 body (CM 9-15 July) which is soon to be relaunched. The latest versions have a moulded front grille and bumper.
