It uses Melton's existing tank design which is normally used on milk tankers, but is also suitable for most edible products. The tanker has no longitudinal members except for those used in the running gear sub-frame.
SAF's AR414 air suspension and RS9042 axles are specified for lightness, soft ride and good lateral stability. With aluminium sideguards and extra fittings it weighs 5,500kg and costs around 236, 500.
Adding 215,000 worth of West German-built electrical pumping, metering and deaeration equipment increases the kerbweight to 6,290kg, and when coupled to its 6,800kg tractive unit gives Mauri Products three tonnes more payload than its previous tanker trailers.
