Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

applied to the Scottish Deputy Licensing Authority last week for a licence to carry fish landed at various ports, it was stated that 50 licences had been granted in the West Highlands area for the handling of fish, to prevent any breakdown in transport

The Authority, added, however, that the time had now come for him to "put up a barrier" when heavy catches were landed. British Road Services had been able to supply vehicles from distant parts, but new arrangements had to be made because of denationalization.

If there happened to be a big landing, short-term licences could be issued.

CHARGES UNDER HEALTH ACTS. AGAINST B.T.C.

CHARGES were brought under the Public Health Acts against the British Transport Commission and a British Road Services driver at Bristol last week for failing to take precautions to prevent meat becoming contaminated. It was stated that a lorry in which meat was being carried to Bristol was filthy, and that a sanitary inspector blackened his hand by rubbing it on the floor.

\ Defendants pleaded not guilty. The driver said that he had hosed the vehicle out before the journey and his superior contended that the vehicle was always spotless. The B.T.C. were fined £5 and the driver £2.

INTERWORKING BY REMOVERS

PAA CO-OPERATIVE alliance by furniture removers, on the pattern of Allied Van Lines in America, is proposed in Germany. More than 2,000 vans are operated by members of Allied Van Lines and all are painted and equipped to a uniform specification. Members of the association are agents for Allied Van Lines on longdistance removals and there is a free interchange of work.

In France a Road Alliance has been formed by long-distance removers, but it is not bound by such strict rules as those applying to the American organization.
