Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

GOOD VIBRATIONS • Regular readers may recall that our long term test Bedford CF2 suffered from particularly bad vibrations from its propeller shaft. According to Bedford, only long wheelbase CF2 dieselengined models with the five speed ZF gearbox built between January and April this year are likely to be similarly afflicted. 550 vans were built in this period and Bedford says that not all will necessarily suffer from the vibrations.

Vehicles with a chassis number later than GV614044 have a revised rear propeller shaft, a heavier inertia disc and longer securing bolts. These modifications should eliminate the vibrations at low engine speeds.

Bedford has issued a service bulletin to its dealers advising them that these same modifications can be made to CF2 vans built in the critical period. Providing this is done within the warranty period, no charge will be made.

The parts numbers for the modifications are as follows: 91125871 Propeller shaft (models without 035 code) 91125872 Propellor shaft 91125830 Inertia disc 7195590 Bolt (4 off) (models with 035 code) See the running report of the CM long-term test CF2 in this issue to gauge the effectiveness of the modification.
